I’m Katariina Mäki, and teach the Healthy Breeding courses. My courses are based on researched knowledge and my book Dog Breeding – The Basics of Heredity and Breeding (Koirataito SM 2018 – unfortunately only published in Finnish so far!), written with Salme Mujunen.
In addition to dog examples, I also use examples from other species, especially cats and horses. My courses are therefore suitable for anyone interested in heredity and breeding.
I hope you enjoy my courses!
Available courses
At the moment only the pilot course is available, but later all available courses will be displayed here (on healthybreeding.com).
Next, I'll tell you how to buy a course. If you've already bought a course, you can go to the 'Learning in the course' section.Buying a course
You can access the course by clicking the buy button on the page:
Clicking on the button will take you directly to checkout. The course will appear in your cart.
In the Returning Customer section you can login as a previously registered customer.
Fill in all the fields marked with a red star.
Your username will be automatically generated and sent to your email address along with a link to set and change your password.
NOTE: Please take extra care when entering your email address to ensure that you receive messages from the course platform. Once you have set your password, you will be able to log in to the course using your password and your username.
Then choose your preferred payment method.
Tick the box to indicate that you agree to the terms and conditions and click the Place Order button. You will then be able to pay for the course.
After payment, you will be taken to the My Courses page, where you will find all the courses you have purchased. Once you have completed the course, your course certificate will also appear on the My Courses page.
Once you have paid for your course, you will be logged in to the course platform.
By clicking on the ‘Continue study’ button for the course you want, you will be taken to the course page and have access to the lessons.

You can log out from the Log out menu. From the Login menu, you can log in again.
How to set a password
The password is not set at checkout when you purchase a course, but you will receive an email with a link to set the password.
How to change your password
You can change your password in two ways:
- If you are not logged in to the system, you can change your password using the “Forgot your password?” function on the login page.
- If you are logged in, you can change your password in the Account details section of the My Account page:

Lessons
The course consists of lessons in which you will learn through lecture videos and texts based on them.
After the videos and texts, at the end of each lesson, you will find links to further information on the topics covered in the lesson. You do not need to follow these links to complete the course, they are just for additional info.
At the end of each lesson there is a short quiz to test your learning.
Questions about the lesson topics?
At the end of each lesson there is a discussion section where you can ask questions and discuss the lesion topics with other students. I am there also and will answer any questions raised in the lessons.
How to progress through the course
You must complete the lessons in order. Once you have passed the quiz of a lesson, you can move on to the next lesson.
You can work through the course at your own pace. You can watch lecture videos, read texts, and take quizzes as often as you like.
Course feedback
In the last lesson there is a satisfaction survey where you can also make suggestions for improvements to the course. Thank you in advance for your feedback!
Course certificate
Once you have completed all the lessons, you can print your course certificate from the My Courses page.
How long will the course material be available?
You will have permanent access to the course.
Most common problems
Username and password
If you have forgotten your password, you can use the ‘Forgot your password?’ function on the login page. This will also allow you to change your password even if you have not forgotten it.
If you are not receiving a password or other system messages in your email, please check that you have created a username with the correct email address. Also check your spam folder. If you find a message there, mark it as non-spam. That way, the emails will go straight to your inbox.
Can’t see the content of your online course?
Check that your browser has been updated and restart it. If that doesn’t help, do the same for your device and make sure it’s updated to the latest version.
If your course progress or achievements are displayed incorrectly, clearing your cache will often help. You can find instructions for clearing your cache by googling. Different browsers have different instructions – make sure that the instructions apply to the browser you are using.
